Skills Description
Intermediate SRT Techniques (without guidance or support)
- Pass deviation down
- Pass deviation up
- Pass re-belay down
- Pass re-belay up
- Swinging to reposition to avoid an obstacle or reach an objective
- Eg “true” Pitch 2 in p8 where you can to swing 2m off the bottom to land on a dry ledge.
- To reach many deviation/rebelay
- Awareness of path of rope above and avoidance of rub points
- Awareness of hanging traverses
- Ability to use their cowstails and footloops to best effect to save energy
Self-rescue Techniques (without guidance or support)
- Changeover from down to up
- Changeover from up to down
- Pass knot up
- Pass knot down
- Knowledge of going up with your down equipment (ascending/securing your ascent by pulling rope through your descender)
- Knowledge of going down with your up equipment (down-prussiking)
