Soft neoprene pads that protect your elbows during long, abrasive flat-out crawls. Niche kit for advanced trips.
What to look for
Close-fitting neoprene elbow pads made for caving. They must stay in place when wet and muddy. Warmbac and AV make proven models. DIY, roller-skating or gardening pads can work in a pinch but tend to slip and snag.
Elbow pads are trip-specific: most cavers leave them at home unless a route is known for brutal crawls.
What to get first
Full basic kit (wellies, helmet + light, undersuit, oversuit, kneepads, belt). Only worth buying once you tackle sustained tight crawls.
