Skills Description
The main distinction between advanced and intermediate is how quickly and confidently the more complex SRT tasks (such as rebelays can be done.)
It’s not necessarily about the difficulty of the cave or SRT but the amount of it, and the water conditions (i.e. waterfalls). If a cave has 15 rebelays, then taking 1 minute to do a rebelay vs 5 makes a big difference (15 extra minutes on a rope, vs 1 hr and 15 minutes) in coldness for both the individual and the group as a whole, especially in wet caves.
These caves often lead to the caver being much more isolated while on rope, so a greater degree of independence and self-rescue skills are needed.
